Women’s History Month is pleased to announce that a question put forward by member, Chitra Nagarajan, to the Historical Association has been picked for a panel of people to answer at their forthcoming event:
What sort of history should school history be?
Public debate chaired by Professor Simon Schama.
July 18 2011 from 6.30 – 8.30pm at the Institute of Education, Bedford Way, London.
The question is:
How will the review process ensure that the voices, experiences and histories of those traditionally marginalised from history teaching, such as women and those from LGBT, black, disabled and gypsy, roma and traveller communities, are integrated into the curriculum, in terms of the people designing it, curriculum content and value placed and importance given?
WHM will publish the answer on this website after the event.
